In the far upper right corner, very tiny, this letter is printer I.D'd as being printed by
    BYRNE
    of
    TYLER , TEXAS .
This letter appears to be signed by a man who was once
    a
    TEXAS RANGER,
    R. L. BATTE
    .
BATTE was the owner and manager of this company
that were manufacturers of cotton seed products.
    V. P. WOOLEY
    is listed as seed buyer.
    J. C. MARTIN
    is listed as secretary.
Very interesting content to this historical letter. This has an actual signature and it is not a facsimile.
    THE FOLLOWING IS COPY
    of
AN EMAIL I RECIEVED, FROM A VIEWER, ABOUT BATTE:
"Thought you might be mildly interested to know a wee tad of the history of the man behind this letter. R.L. Batte (Sr.) owned (and ran) half of Cameron, TX, during the first half of the 20th century. He was a self-made millionaire cattle rancher, cotton farmer and businessman who raised orphan boys as a "hobby" at "The Sycamores" - his ranch/estate on the edge of Cameron. My father was in the last batch of boys he raised, and the stories he tells from those days would make a marvelous book.
    Mr. Batte was a
    TEXAS RANGER
during some portion of the late 1880's/1890's and, among other things, helped found the
    CHARLIE GOODNIGHT TRAIL.
He lived until the early 1950's and died, I believe, in his 90's (possibly late 80's)."
In addition to that email here is some more net info:
    R. L. Batte, Sr., Texas rancher, was a creative and independent pioneer of Central Texas. One of the sturdy breed of early Texans that carved a place for cattle and farming from the untamed Texas wilderness, he was a man of vision and determined spirit. He amassed an empire of about 15,000 acres of premium river bottom land, gins, a cotton seed oil mill, and other businesses
    near Cameron. "
The "EBAY ITEM" thing is just a loose piece of paper that is not attached to the letter.
