Antique Minton Cabinet Plate, Cupid Sleeping

Description

Condition:  Excellent, without crazing, chips, cracks or wear. It rings like a bell.
This porcelain plate was produced in England by Minton in 1868.  The date cipher indicated this year.  The plate is 9 1/4 inches in diameter.  It has a 1 1/4 inch reticulated border.  The center of the plate has a hand painted scene of Cupid dreaming.  His quiver of arrows and bunches of flowers are by his side.  The painting is done in pink monochrome.  The reticulated border is painted the same shade of pink to match.  Medallions containing forget-me-nots accent the border.  A ring of these flowers encircles the painting of Cupid.  Raised gold beading and dentil trim enhance the decorations.  This plate is a Victorian delight.
