    Description

    Offered for sale is this circa 1880 Rebecca Coleman plate/charger with a beautiful portrait of a young woman. I suspect that this may have been painted by Coleman for one of the Howell & James annual exhibitions of paintings on china held in London in the late 1870s or early 1880s. Rebecca Coleman was known to have entries in these exhibitions and also to have won several prizes. The portrait is entirely hand painted and signed "R. Coleman". The back of the plate has hand written numbers as shown.

    plate is just under 10.5 inches in diameter
    .
    It is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, flea bites or repairs. There is fine crazing throughout. Please see the close up pictures.
