1834 - Zanesville, OH, "following a call signed by 600 citizens of Muskingum County, with only three dissenting voices, "We believe the interference of the Bank and its agents in the politics of the country, its unusual and enormous loans; in printing and circulating political publications to influence elections; its attempts to thwart the laudable desire of the nation to pay off the public debt; and its general corrupt pervision of its banking privileges by unequally operating on the currency of the country, to be insulting to the dignity of the nation and dangerous to its prosperity."
