1834 -  Inhabitants of Nelson County, KY  favoring rechartering the Bank of the US say, "We are now in the sad experience of the evils so loudly complained of everywhere, and our sufferings have but just commenced...The absurd and ruinous "experiemnt" by the President of attempting to introduce a national currency through the agency of local banks must end in bankruptcy of trade and commerce and prostrate our national credit."
